Shear Excellence Hair Academy 3rd Annual Beauty & Barber Expo for Professional Barbers, Cosmetologists and Nail Technicians and Students. Will be offering advanced classes, Student classes and more. Music, food and entertainment. Up to $1000 cash prizes, trophies and much more.

Judging

 

The judging will begin immediately following the close of the Contest Period and the winners will be announced at the end of all competitions. Entries will be judged by our judges, no information regarding Entries or judging, other than as otherwise set forth in these in Official Rules, will be disclosed and judge’s decisions are final.

In the event of a tie, Judges will confer and review tie Entries. Tied Entries will be judged again, and additional points will be awarded based on the Entrant’s unique vision: How well does the overall cut, originality and professionalism.

Each competitor must provide a live model (18) years old age or older. Time will be announced at the close of the competition and you must stop cutting or styling even if the look is not complete. At their discretion, judges may disqualify a participant for styling/or cutting beyond the time limit. At the start of the competition, the competitors will have 10 minutes to set up their station. During this time Barbers competitors can adjust the blades of the clippers provided if they are able to perform this task in the given set-up time of 10 minutes. There will not be any extra time given for blade adjustments, nor will the start of the competition be delayed for this reason.

Competitors are encouraged to bring their own finishing tools and products including combs, brushes, spray bottles with water as these will NOT be provided. Competitors must not share products during the competition without approval from a floor judge. All models’ hair must be cut during the competition. Competitors are not allowed to cut, trim, shape or preset model’s hair before the competition begins.

 

Winning

Judging will be held from among all eligible Entries received. The Entry with the highest score accumulated throughout the judging process will be declared the First Prize Winner; the Entry with the second highest score accumulated throughout the judging process will be declared the Second Prize Winner; the Entry with the third highest score accumulated throughout the judging process will be declared the Third Prize Winner.

CATEGORIES-PROFESSIONAL BARBERS

 

Best All Around Cut/W Beard – 45 minutes

This competition is for the dynamic barbers to come up with the Freshest Haircut that include the beard!!! The concept is to perform one Dope haircut on one model, in 45 minutes. Any cut can be performed. Barbers will be judged on the over-all cut, cleanliness, sanitation, precision, symmetry, transition and time.

 

Free Style Design – 45 minutes

There are No limits to creativity and design in this Creative Freestyle. This is for any barber that wants to show off their artistry skills and creativity from simple to the most complex design. Barbers will be judged on how creative and clean their cut & design is. You do whatever you want with 45 minutes to complete. No pre-cuts. Barbers will be judged on the complexity, the design, and overall haircut. Just make sure it's uniformed.

 

Fastest Fade – 15 minutes

This competition is for the fastest of the fast. Barbers will have up to 15 minutes to complete this haircut. Models must have no pre lines, no pre-cuts, nor shape ups. Barbers will be judged on the blend of the fade, how tight the line is, and the cleanliness of the haircut.

 

Best Female Barber-45 minutes

This category is for the innovator and a dynamic female barber. This cut is judged on originality, creativity, trend, technicality, precision, and total look. The finished style should reflect the current trend on the market and draws extra attention to the design line and angels with a modernized look for today’s fashionable man.  The concept is to perform one Dope haircut on one model, in 45 minutes. Any cut can be performed. Barbers will be judged on the over-all cut, cleanliness, sanitation, precision, symmetry, transition and time.

 

CATEGORIES-STUDENT BARBERS

 

Fastest Fade – 15 minutes

This competition is for the fastest of the fast. Barbers will have up to 15 minutes to complete this haircut. Models must have no pre lines, no pre-cuts, nor shape ups. Barbers will be judged on the blend of the fade, how tight the line is, and the cleanliness of the haircut.

CATEGORIES-PROFESSIONAL COSMETOLOGY

 

MYSTERY GRAB BAG – 45 minutes

The goal of the Grab Bag competition is to create any style you desire by using only the supplies provided.  Everything must be used. Judging will be based on creativity, use of items provided, balance, design, and overall finished appearance.

 

FREESTYLE CREATE YOUR OWN – 45 minutes

This battle allows students to take freestyle to the next level. Students may be as creative as they desire in creating a TOTAL LOOK. Students choose the style of their choice. Creativity and Passion is welcome here. Hair color may be used. Costumes are not required but will be considered.

 

 

CATEGORIES-STUDENT COSMETOLOGY

 

BRIDAL UPDO– 6 hours from 3pm-8pm during the Expo (All styling must be style during Expo)

Allow your imagination to run wild as you dare to inspire into new avenues of visual stimulation and beauty with creativity. All entries will be judged on a Bridal Updo Pixie.  The hair can be done up or some left down, can be cut or left long.  Hair must have some form of color (ie. Tint, highlights, etc). Ornaments and accessories (clips, earrings, necklaces, scarves, etc.) are acceptable, however, be sure the actual hair style can be clearly seen. Makeup is suggested, all styling, color, makeup, etc. must be performed by the competitor only. Entries are to be judged on the total look. There are no separate points for color or makeup, but rather, how the whole look comes together. Is it balanced? Does the hairstyle go with the makeup and accessories?

 

CATEGORIES-NAILS

 

FANTASY NAIL–6 hours from 3pm-8pm during the Expo (All styling must be style during Expo)

Nail technicians will be given 6 hours to complete their designs for this category and must be completed during the competition time given. It must be 10 nails for 10 fingers. Contestants may apply any length nail enhancements in a single color to their models nails prior to the competition without designs. Any nail enhancement product may be used to achieve the design. Contestants must provide all their own electrical items such as electric Files, lamps etc.  All ten of the models or nail hand fingers must have a nail art design on them and must be completely constructed from Nail Enhancement product and within the competition time. The nails should not all be the same design but tell a story and be complimentary from one nail to the next. The theme and design should be original and something which has not been seen before. Extra embellishments such as rhinestones glitter or other items may be used to compliment the design but must not cover or take up more than 25% of the design. The nail enhancement, tip or base which the design is on will also be taken into consideration and should be well and neatly constructed.

 

3D design–6 hours from 3pm-8pm during the Expo (All nails must be performed during Expo)

The 3 D design may extend as much as you want in any direction. There should be 3D art is present on each nail. The 3D art should be presented with clean application. The 3D should be created with unique style. It must be 10 nails for 10 fingers. Nail technicians will be given 6 hours to complete their designs for this category and must be completed during the competition time given. Contestants may apply any length nail enhancements in a single color to their models nails prior to the competition without designs. Any nail enhancement product may be used to achieve the design. Contestants must provide all their own electrical items such as electric Files, lamps etc.  All ten of the models or nail hand fingers must have a nail art design on them and must be completely constructed from Nail Enhancement product and within the competition time.

 

 

FREESTYLE –6 hours from 3pm-8pm during the Expo (All styling must be style during Expo)

Nail technicians will be given 4hours to complete their designs for this category and must be completed during the competition time given. It must be 10 nails for 10 fingers. Contestants may apply any length nail enhancements in a single color to their models nails or nail hand during the competition without designs. Any nail enhancement product may be used to achieve the design. Contestants must provide all their own electrical items such as electric Files, lamps etc.  All ten of the models or nail hand fingers must have a nail art design on them and must be completely constructed from Nail Enhancement product and within the competition time. The Free edge must extend straight out from the lateral folds and the groove-wall. The nail should be uniform on each side. There cannot be any ridges on the free edge extension. The sides of the free edges should feel smooth and appear to be filed clean. Surface on the top of the nail should be completely smooth. There should be no scratch marks or rough spots from the product application. Consistency of Uniformity, the shape of the nail should have the same degree of angle if shapes such as Stiletto. All work must be created during the competition. The nail tech must work alone at the nail desk during the competition.
